Very detailed and large size book on sheep, outstanding for the large number of full page plates of breeds. The binding on this volume is sound but quite badly rubbed and faded. Priced at about half the usual cost.

An Unusual Item On Cheviots.

Though sounding like a general treatise on leases and rents much of the book relates to the Cheviots. The final few pages give the Valuation of Cheviot Stocks made at Whitsunday between outgoing and Ingoing Tenants from 1876 to 1899 and gives vakuations for Ewes and Lambs and Ewe Hoggs. The number of named farms listed in each year varies from 3 in 1878 to 17 in 1887. Though most of the farms are in the Cheviots the spread is quite wide to include Granton, Moffat; Mossfern Peebleshire; Strathfillan Pertshire;Craigshiels Carmichael etc etc.
Again appears very scarce as there are only 2 entries in Copac listing 3 copies.
